ich habe in indonesien als küchenchef gearbeitet, einem moslem land. wir haben im monat ramadan die küche extra früh aufgesperrt und frühstück gemacht, doppelt soviel wie sonst, weil es blieb ja nur kurze zeit alles zu vertilgen. und am abend das selbe. sobald der muezin von seinen turm fertig geheult hatte, ging der sturm aufs kalte buffet los, bis spät in die nacht hinein. SO stelle ich mir das fasten nicht vor. und wahrscheinlcih der prophet mohammed (friede sei mit ihm) wohl auch nicht.

Eine groÃe Nische (Mihrab) gibt die Gebetsrichtung nach Mekka in Arabien an, wo sich das Haupt-
heiligtum des Islams, die Kaaba, befintet; oft steht neben dieser Nische ein Pult (Mimbar) für den Vorbeter. Darstellungen von Menschen sind verboten. Die älteste groÃe Moschee befindet sich in Damaskus. Der Anhänger des Islams, der Muslim, hat bestimmte Pflichten: Er bekennt die Einheit Gottes und daà Mohammed sein Prophet ist. Am Tage soll er fünfmal nach Mekka gewandt beten und am Freitag die Moschee besuchen, Almosen geben und im Monat Ramadan tagsüber fasten. Einmal in seinem Leben soll er den Haddsch. das ist die Pilgerfahrt nack Mekka, antreten. Alkohol und der Genub von Schweinefleisch sind ihm grundsätzlich untersagt.
